How can you not see this woman’s beauty?
I was doing some surfing just now and came across a journal entry at Chris…of Course!. Titled “Pop!“, it detailed the author’s disappointment that a recent Dove campaign called “Campaign for Real Beauty” (mentioned here) was going over poorly among some co-workers.
“Oh my GOD!,” he said. “What is this? Oh, I don’t want to see this.”
The consultant who sits in the office across the hall heard him and explained that it was part of a new Dove campaign for real beauty.
“I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder,” he said, ” And I don’t want to be the one beholding! These make me want to go buy [our competitor’s] products.”

It’s easy to see how one could be upset that such a positive campaign would reveal superficial feelings in someone once respected. As the campaign website states:
“For too long, beauty has been defined by narrow, stifling stereotypes. You’ve told us it’s time to change all that. We agree. Because we believe real beauty comes in many shapes, sizes and ages.”

We don't have these ads in France yet but I think that they did a really good job!
“These make me want to go buy [our competitor's] products.” What a dumb thing for him to say. Lets take in consideration the Demographics for Dove. Mostly they are women buying their products, I therefore think this ad campaign will INCREASE Dove's sales! Women are sick and tired of unrealistic beauty (because lets face it, most of the time it's photoshopped). The guy had no idea what he was talking about.
I've seen 4-5 of the Dove ads from this campaign (old, grey, freckled, small boobed, not skinny, ..) and think that they are amazing. The woman are all beautiful. Despite being someone who generally won't buy something just because of an ad, I'd be willing to commit to Dove if they continued with using real women in their ads.
i have to be completely honest and say “man, that is a LOT of freckles.” i do think she's beautiful, though. and i DO think that guy was a jerk about it.
Wow… you're right. I wish zits looked as cute as freckles 🙁 Well… they do to some people… but they're also usually the type of people who like to pop them and… they scare me.
This woman is beautiful but what makes her so is her attitude which comes from within. SHE thinks she's beautiful.
This is why I like animals' “attitudes”: They accept you as you are, not because you look “ugly” or “pretty”.

The single most beautiful looking women are pale redheads with freckles… pale brunettes are a close second. Tanned women are only skin cancer waiting to happen.
Once upon a time not so long ago, women with tans were considered trash. They must be… they had to work outside in the field. Only the most ladylike women were pale because they would never stoop so low as to do manual labor… outside! Then that changed around the time of the Age of Industrialization… working women had to work _inside_ factories, and they became pale. So, to counteract this, the rich snotty women decided that having a tan… laying about on the beach like only a rich woman could do… should be the aspect of beauty. And so it came to be in the minds of the men of the West… tanned is beautiful. How easily we believe what we're told.
I reject this. The beauty of a woman is her attitude, the way she holds herself, her wit, the charm of her smile and the gleam in her eyes. But even with this, I still consider the pale freckled redhead to be the single most physically attractive of women.
